Yonca Sicimoglu, born 1992, grew up in Cologne, is currently studying Photography and Film Directing at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne.
Street photography is my way of connecting to life in streets and capturing moments that tell stories about humanity, love, joy and the idiosyncrasies of different cultures. Being a photographer means grasping the little details of our everyday life and appreciating their authenticity and visual richness. It is to be a well-minded thief of the unfamiliar.
My greatest influences are Alex Webb, Rebecca Norris Webb, Josef Koudelka and the young, talented photographer Emily Garthwaite, who inspires me with her investigative and benevolent approach to photography.
